The Benefits of Body Exfoliation

Week after week, many ladies walk into 7th Heaven Beauty Spa in Ikeja to ask me how to get that wonderful glowing skin that radiates the ebony-looking beauty of the African princess. They come looking for one magic cream or lotion that holds the almighty formula to their skin looks. Others come complaining that they have tried this and that cream and it didn't work. I have recommended some tips that have made them come back with testimonies few weeks after. In this post, I want to share with you one of the secrets that caused a turnaround in their looks. It is exclusively FREE for my blog audience

Some of you are like my clients; you already have your bathroom cabinet filled with cleansing and moisturizing creams. You need to understand that many a time it doesn't matter how much lotion you are slapping on your skin, if you are not exfoliating your skin on a regular basis, your skin cannot absorb all the benefits your moisturizer has to offer. Why because your skin pores have been clogged by the dead skin cells your skin has shed. Clogged pores makes your skin look dry and dehydrated...you know that flaky skin look? That’s where body scrubs come in as a good solution to help exfoliate your skin

Body Exfoliation
The process of exfoliation rids the body of any dry, dull skin by removing dead skin cells from the surface of the epidermis. By removing these dead cells, exfoliation can help keep pores from becoming clogged and leave skin with a refreshed and clean feeling. What's the benefit to clean and clear pores? Clogged pores can result in blackheads and acne. Furthermore, when pores are clogged, they appear larger. So, if you're worried about the size of your pores, although you can't reduce their actual size (genetics is the biggest factor in pore size), you can help diminish their appearance by keeping them clog-free through exfoliation.

Some of the benefits of exfoliating are:
* It's ability to improve texture of your dull skin, making it more vibrant.
* Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
* Sloughs off the dead skin cells your body has shed.
* Unclogs pores.
* Keeps skin healthy, thus helping to prevent break-outs.

You will notice a tremendous difference in your skin's softness and moisture retention if you simply follow a routine of exfoliating regularly.

One more thing: don’t forget to stop by in our office at 5b Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja Lagos, to tell us how it worked or to get a professional body scrub (which should be done once a month). Please share your experience here on this blog

How to get a Healthy, Smooth, and Soft Lips

We are gradually approaching the harmattan season in Nigeria, when the weather poses so many health challenges to the skin especially the lips. Residents of major southern cities like Port Harcourt, Lagos and Enugu used to have a little of the impact of haramattan than residents of areas in northern Nigeria like Abuja and Kano. Unfortunately the increasing trend of global warming is making these erstwhile less prone areas increasingly vulnerable to the effect of harmattan (winter).

As Nigeria's Health and Beauty Blog, This write up is intended to show you how your lips can remain healthy: looking soft and smooth all season of the year. These seven tips will show you both what to avoid and what to practice to make your lips look kissable and healthy.

1.       Drink plenty of water. This will help not only with your lips but will hydrate your whole body. Staying hydrated is a great way to keep your lips moist
2.       Apply Vaseline: In addition to forming a moisture seal on your lips with petrolatum, beeswax, or oil a good lip balm will nourish your skin with vitamin E, jojoba oil, or whatever else you find most effective for your skin and prevent the lips from being chapped and dry, Vaseline works wonders for your lips by moisturizing them and protecting them.
3.       Avoid biting/licking your lips: Saliva dries out your lips, the habit of licking or biting your lips will not only scrape away the protective seal formed by your lip balm, but can also cause trauma to your delicate skin.
4.       Throw away sweets/gums. These will tempt you to constantly lick your lips
5.       Avoid eating salty foods that leave a buildup on your lips. Salt draws moisture out of things, which is why people use it to dry and preserve meat. Eating or drinking salty stuff, causes your lips to dry out.
6.       Breathe through your nose. Breathing through your mouth dries out your lips just like windy weather.
7.       Exfoliate your lips. Dip a plain toothbrush in petroleum jelly or Vaseline, then use it brush all the dead skin off your lips. Alternatively, mix a tablespoon of honey with enough sugar until you get a body-scrub-like texture, the scrub it across your lips with a toothbrush. Exfoliating will leave them smoother and make them look healthier.

Stay healthy and beautiful
